PANTS TO POVERTY
XMAS '12 POP UP SHOP
Pants To Poverty approached me about designing a pop-up shop in a retail unit they had obtained just off of Sloane Square. Coinciding with a photoshoot for their new range that they were off to shoot in India, the theme was to be "The Loom, Stitch and Wardrobe". Pants really wanted to draw attention to their process and supply chain, something which many underwear manufacturers would not do, and so a design for the shop that referenced the production from the underwear from being picked in cotton fields to the consumer in the shop, was developed.
Cotton bolls, seeds, raw fabric, cotton reels, (plants being stopped at customs) were shipped directly from the source in Orissa, India, and used to make part of a sculptural installation
running through the space.
